External Preview

I can see where using a TV for external monitoring would be very beneficial, especially when applying color corrections, brightness/contrast, etc., especially due to the difference in picture quality that is noticable from computer monitor to interlaced TV signal. My question is this: On viewing the playback from the timeline on an external monitor, does the framerates still drop when transitions or process-heavy effects are used like they (the framerates) do on the Vegas Playback Window? I suppose the answer would be yes, but I am still curious to know for sure. Thanks in advance for your help!!

Yes, the framerate will drop on the external preview; how much is dependent on the number of effects and how taxing they are on the system. Search this forum using my Username (danieljoelle) and you will eventually find a very good thread all about external monitoring. Search "external monitor" for that matter, as well.

That threw me off in the beginning, but if I really want to see how the final outcome will look for a particular section I just render that section and play it. It doesn't take very long to do.
