You should be OK with either CPU config. If you're entirely serious about your audio, bypass the Audigy 2 and go straight for a pro-quality card/interface, like those from Echo or M-Audio. They're not exactly gaming cards, but they're no slouches when it comes to music production (plus you won't end up with bloatware). I'm not trying to diss Creative or anything (they do make good gaming cards); it's just that Creative should be a little more forthcoming about specs (like the fact that the first-generation Audigy does 16-bit/48 kHz internally and must make extra work out of converting from and to 24-bit/96 kHz). I really don't trust them, even if it appears they've remedied the situation with the Audigy 2. Personally, if the price vs. features appears too good to be true, it usually is (or there's some other sacrifice involved). There's more I could say (like about tech support, driver stability and warranties) but I digress... Iacobus |
