all of a sudden, a couple of my songs won't play on my computer.

when i push spacebar after all the .acd file loads, i get a two second pause, and it says

"AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE STARTING PLAYBACK

TIME OUT OCCURRED WHEN PREPARING THE AUDIO DEVICE FOR PLAYBACK"

and now i can't export either. it's weird because it's not the soundcard, because earlier sessions of the same song are playing fine,

is the file corrupt? does anyone know if my work is savable?

email me: tommywho23@hotmail.com
i own an online record store www.gigafunkrecords.com
if you help me, i will give you stuff

Hey Tommy,

Have you changed versions of Acid? Do you have the most recent build? If not, you can get it at www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step1.asp?CatID=2. You can try saving the file and then reinstalling Acid. And of course it never hurts to make sure your sound card driver is a current as it could be. Those are my first thoughts. No need for a “reward”, just help out someone else on this forum if you have the answer about something else.

HTH,

Steve

It sounds like you have added a plugin which is causing problems - you say earlier versions of the file play, so what did you change plugin-wise in the newer version?

This would explain why Acid can't play back OR render the song.

If you can figure out which plugin it is, un-install it from your system - you will get an error when you load the Acid song saying that a plugin is missing, but the song will still load anyway. This will let you resave a new version, which will of course be missing the plugin, but retaining the latest editing etc of the latest version.

My only other thought is that possibly you have managed to select a sample playback rate that your soundcard can't handle - but that shouldn't stop you rendering.

HOW DO YOU UNINSTALL PLUGINS?

THE ERROR STARTED AFTER I INSTALLED SONAR 1.0
I SINCE UNINSTALLED IT, BUT YOU'RE RIGHT, THERE MIGHT BE PLUGINS FROM THAT.

I get this same problem. It happens when I solo or mute tracks. I think I've uninstaled plug-ins but still have the problem!?!?!?!?!?
