I've posted this before a while back but didn't get any responses...so here I go again. Maybe someone out there knows what's going on. I get an exception error when rendering a 24 bit mixdown to WAV format, or sometimes right after hitting the "stop" button to end recording, or even sometimes when I start to record. Acid will give me the error, then crash. When I look in Windows Task Manager I see that it is still running in the background, sucking up as much as 71,000 K of memory. When I try to force it to shut down, it refuses. At first, I thought that it might have something to do with running it on my AMD Athlon XP 1600/Via K266A system. So, I built a Pentium 4 1.9 GHz with Intel motherboard, a GIG of RAM, Seagate Cheetah 10K RPM Ultra SCSI II hard drive for recording, Seagate Barracuda Ultra ATA hard drive for OS, Windows XP SP1 stripped down to nothing...totally optimized for audio, M.Audio Delta 66 sound card, Midiman Midisport 4x4, NVidia GForce2 for video. All the latest drivers are installed. I'm getting the SAME FREEKIN' EXCEPTION ERROR/hang up on the P4 as I did on the AMD PC. I'm getting close to dumping Acid altogether because music is my business...HELP ME BEFORE I MAKE MYSELF BALD FROM ALL THIS HAIR YANKING! Whew...sorry about that. -Midihead |

Things to try: -Get the 5.10.00.29x12 betas over at M-Audio's Web site. Get the latest drivers for the Midisport while you're there as well. -Judging from your previous posts, I'm assuming you picked up ACID 4.0b? -I've heard reports of USB MIDI giving users problems in other forums. Just for giggles, uninstall the Midisport's drivers and see if recording digital audio works fine. (I know this would mean not being able to record/use MIDI, but I'm troubleshooting here.) -Turn your video acceleration down a notch or two. -See if an updated BIOS is available for your motherboard. If this mobo is a few weeks old on the market, chances are there's an update. -Try Intel's Application Accelerator. I doubt if it will help much, but it's worth a shot. -Don't rule out the possibility of dirty power to your system, especially if this same phenomenon happens on both systems. Don't also overlook the possibility of damage to any of your components, either from power sags or surges. (Be certain your systems, if they're of the ATX variety, have at least a 300W power supply; anything less than that and your system will be starving for power, which will also cause errors.) -Don't use generic RAM. Use a brand name. Generic RAM, believe it or not, has been known to cause mysterious errors in programs. HTH, Iacobus |

You did not indicate whether the problem happens on different Acid sessions. I had a similar (not exact) thing happening in Vegas and tracked it down to a corrupted file. Also, sometimes various plugins can cause strange things like this. Good luck, drbam |
