About Surround effects.

Will there be surround sound effects (such as reverb etc.) available with Vegas+DVD?
I asked customer support and their reply was:
Hello,

Thank you for writing. Vegas 4 + DVD will include the 5.1 Surround Plug-In,
and you can read about that product and download the public beta here:
http://www.sonicfoundry.com/products/dvda-feat.asp. Please let me know if
you have any other questions.

Which doesnt say whether they are or will be available, which makes Nuendo seem like a better buy.

Vegas 4.0 comes with all of the same effects that came with version 3.0. These effects can be applied to stereo or surround sound projects. There are about twenty altogether, including three EQ's, Amplitude Modulation, Chorus, Delay/Echo, Distortion, Dynamics, Time Compression, Flange, Pitch Bend, Reverb, etc.

Have these effects been specifically designed with surround sound in mind (such as those available with Nuendo), or are they just applied to each buss output-not taking into effect the surround field?

I think my CPU would probably melt trying to run it, but I'd love a '5.1 Acoustic Mirror'....

My CPU is overheating right now just THINKING about trying to run a 5.1 Acoustic Mirror. But remember to truly emulate a 5.1 environment you'd need to sample the acoustic spaces with a 5.1 channel microphone or at least 6 mics. Something I've done in my alternate personality and it is cool.
Come to think of it a 5.1 AM WOULD rock!

..and we would catch hell when somebody tried to load 10 instances of it and we couldn't playback on 12 busses, each running to hardware and input monitoring 16 tracks....with Wave L1 on each of the 42 tracks....

Altiverb (acoustic mirror equivalent) has impulses that are 2 in 4 out etc
That is true four channel impulses

Only on the Mac though.

AM is probably a far too hardcore sound application to get any more love from SF, but God knows an update is overdue.

A 4 channel version of Acoustic Mirror would rock.

Oh yes it is but a dream for us, but it proves it can be done and quality impulses do exist already for when we can use them.
