Subject:External Midi devices, please Help!!!!

I am trying to connect an external device so that I can utilize midi in Acid 4.0. However I am somewhat baffled on the process. I have an ASR-X similar to the MPC series of workstations and I want to midi it up but don't really know how. Can someone please give me a run down of the process on how to hook this up? Where do cables go etc.. What is the configuration in Acid? Please excuse my ignorance....
But I really need help on this.

Pick up the full ACID 4.0 manual in Acrobat format. In particular, pay special attention to Chapter 10, p. 123. It'll tell you how to do it better than I could.

Remember to think of MIDI as a loop; MIDI Out on your soundcard goes into MIDI In on your external device and MIDI Out on your external device goes into MIDI In on your soundcard.
