Bummer, Wake up

"On December 30, Ernst & Young cited the company's working capital deficiency, and raised "substantial doubt" about the company's ability to continue as a going concern. The auditor said Sonic Foundry's convertible debt is a current obligation and the company does not have long-term credit availability."

Hmm... Maybe you shouldn't have thumbed your noses at the mac community after all.

How many times in the past few years has Apple been DOA ?

First of all, maybe you shouldn't use the universal to describe us---I have never thumbed my nose at the Mac community---Second--thats old news buddy----Sonic will survive and 4.0 will flourish-----Thirdly---get a life---who really gives a rats ### about platform wars--answer---only teenagers or other sexually frustrated fetishists!

What's your F*CKING point bringing up old -- probably meaningless -- news? The Mac is a nice platform too and FCP users seem to like that program. If you're worried about Vegas, you're certainly free to make the move to Mac/FCP.

Ahhhh Mannnnn...

C'mon... it's friiiiddddaaaayyyyy! Frowns and stuff aren't permitted!

While I'm sure I know some folks (geeks, nerds, take your pick) who actually wouldn't mind the sex part as some sort of ad hoc definition, what's the prob. with a little friendly rivalry? Check out the debates 'tween the head technologists from sun & ms...

Thought for today (or the next 3 seconds anyway): As long as people are throwing words, they're not throwing bullets.

"Bummer, Wake up"

Mmmmph? What are you doing in my room GrannySmithHead?
Isn't it too greasy, dirty and unaestetic to your taste?
And lemme sleep if I want, I feel sooooo good in my mud...

Sonic Foundry is a company of my choice; Vegas video is one of the best products I ever worked with. Adobe premiere is been setting in the corner of my shelf collecting dust.
Sonic Foundry has %100 my support and will do anything in my ability to bring and introduce sonic Foundry products to my friends and colleague. Good Luck Sonic Foundry

The only reason Apple is still afloat today is because of a big cash infussion from Bill Gates. Isn't that in itself inronic?
JonnyMac wrote on 1/24/2003, 3:22 PM
Not really ... I've read that the single biggest producer of Mac software is Microsoft.

Apple computers are for lamebrained can't-do-it-yourselfers. They've given up on their curiosity. They need the spoonfeeding.......
Chienworks wrote on 1/24/2003, 5:25 PM
ReneH, while i can appreciate your attitude, i must point out that in some sense Apple does have it right. Computers are appliances. They should be downright simple to operate. People shouldn't have to think about any technical computer related details to accomplish their task. As with any other appliance, they should be able to concentrate on the task itself and have the tool do it's work. Who would buy a refridgerator that required you to understand thermodynamics and pressure pumps to operate it? When is the last time you had to understand thermocouples and electron shell excitement to use a toaster? The days of having to understand technical details about a computer in order to operate one are fast coming to and end.

And in the Windows world, what software comes closer to this than ..... SonicFoundry? :)

ps. since this thread is somewhat silly anyway ... allow me to say that i'd like a huge cash infusion from Bill Gates too!

I've always complimented my friends that owned Macs. There was truth in the saying that Windows 95 was Mac 87. They were way ahead of their time.

The only reason I use the PC is that, let's face it, there are tons more apps written for it.

And, unfortunately, for Mac Lovers, the days are just about past when all graphic and video work must be done on the Mac. With the advent of XP for Windows and no more crashes, it's harder to brag about the stability of Mac versus Windows.

Not to mention the cost of ownership.
If I had to buy a Mac to use SoFo software and post on these forums...you'd be looking at an empty rectangle right now. :)

MyST, good point. My bosses just bought me a new PC today, P4 2.0GHz, 512MB DDR RAM, 60GB ATA/133 drive, 32x/10x/48x CD-RW, 16x DVD, 64MB NVIDIA, ethernet, firewire, USB-2 all built in. Total price, $599 with free shipping from OfficeMax. Nothing in the Mac world even comes close to that in that price range. I think i need one of these for home too!

I did have to spend a couple of hours uninstalling about 5GB of useless software that came preinstalled though. Grrrrr. Oh well. At least i've finally joined the XP crowd.
Paul_Holmes wrote on 1/24/2003, 9:06 PM
Congratulations, Kelly! I'm happy for you. Other than early motherboard driver issues, I haven't had a crash yet on XP.

Do you have to rub it in already??? I live in Canada...land of the low value denomination. Take that 599 and multiply it by 1.7 times plus 15% taxes.
Do you understand why I won't be going V4, no matter how good the deal is?
For 600$ I'm looking at maybe a new mobo and processor...that's it!
That said...imagine if I was to go Mac? 600$ doesn't even pay the monitor!

PS: I'm happy for you Kelly, you deserve good hardware!!!

"The only reason Apple is still afloat today is because of a big cash infussion from Bill Gates."

Billyboy,
That's just not true. It was Steve! Steve Jobs! He took a break from piloting the sun across the heavens and swooped down to earth with some magic beans and Photoshop benchmarks. And with one Herculean effort he reached across the River Styx and withdrew the Apple Computer Corp. from the cold clutches of Hades. Then he planted the magic beans and threw Apple on his shoulder (much like Atlas) and climbed the beanstalk to the heights of Mount Olympus. And there the Apple has resided....the computer of the gods!

At least that's what I was led to believe right before I bought mine.....damn I feel stupid....

computers are different things to different people at different times. for some they are applicances, for others they are tools, and for a few creative folks they are more like musical instruments. you have to find the one that's just right for you, and then practice practice practice! when you get good, sure you can play someone else's violin, but nothing feels like your own.

mac's, PC's... they're a lot more alike than different. if I was at a show and the music blew me away, it's not the brand of instrument but the musician that I'd applaud!
