Does anybody have any suggestions for realtime control over effects plugins or overdub features, I don't use acid much for midi vsti, so maybe I'm just overlooking these features, or does it all have to be done with envelopes? |

You should be able to control some parameters via a MIDI controller of some sort. Don't expect much out of anything related to digital audio, though. You can automate parameters via envelopes but that's it. ACID is mainly a production tool, not a live performance tool. The only way I can see manipulating digital audio in such a way with ACID is by assigning a track (or tracks) to a Bus and then routing that Bus to an external device (via an audio interface), like I do with my Alesis airFX sound and effects controller. thats what I figured, I was thinking something similar to logic maybe, where you can go in and overdub your effects changes or Vst parameter changes by doing it realtime |

I don't know anything about it, but isn't Ableton Live supposed to be the bees knees for applying effects in real time? I'm thinking of getting Cubase SX myself, although it's going to take me half a year to save up for it. But the only reason I'm thinking of getting it is I'm looking for a high-end midi/scoring program built into my sequencer/VSTi host. And I really can't tell yet from the demo if it's going to work for me because, of course, I can't render or save anything to check to be sure it's going to work like I want it to. Why don't companies release time-crippled demos instead of feature-crippled ones? Or at least give people a few renders or saves so they can at least see if the darned thing is going to work. Harmony Assistant is a wonderful scoring program that I could just about use for all my dry audio waves. Its Goldbase instrument set has a lot going for it, but I still need VSTis. But darn it, it's like pulling teeth to get what HA does so well into any other program to get the audio rendered. I'm sick of it. An example: An Acid/loop-inspired piece I just finished, "Recurring Dream," was all done with Goldbase instruments straight out of HA; but the violas are not what I wanted, and I just can't face what I'm going to have to do to get the ones I want rendered and mixed into it. My computer and my brain are littered with all these programs and it takes forever to get anything done. Sorry, but I just had to vent my frustration a little. I just think it shouldn't have to take months to produce something it only takes a few days to compose. So let me know, anyone out there, if you think Cubase SX would do it for me. Diane |

If you are looking for real-time control of VSTi's like Pro-52/53, B4, Orchestral, Atmosphere or Stylus (just to name a few) you can use GenieSys OPT Midi Editor 2.0 to control synth parameters. George Ware |

I just want a sequencing program that will allow you to overdub parameter changes to vst and plugins, like in logic, I'm weaning myself from logic because they will not be putting out any further windows products. Thats why I was asking if Cubase SX has this feature, I know you can change parameters in acid with evelopes but come on what if you you adjust the volume, filter, mod, panning, and so on, you'll have like ten little envelope lines all smashed together. |
