Subject:Special -> Create Sample Loop. Where???

Ok guys, you are confusing the heck out of me. I am tring to create a simple loop. I have Sound Forge Deluxe 1.0 and Sound Forge 4.5 XP. When I did a search on this Forum, I typed in "Looping" in the keyword box, and got a bunch of results. Though everybody says to create loop you must first creat a loop point, by choosing Special -> Edit Sample or special -> Create Sample Loop. Where in the world is that. I don't see it in either versions. When I click on Special, I get Transport Region List ASF/Markers Acid Looping Tools Edit Acid Properties Edit Frame Rate Edit Tempo and a bunch of marker commands etc. |

please dont bury me 3 pages deep in this forum. I really want to know. You say that it is simple as clicking on Special -> Create Sample loop. Well why don't I see it. I am not tring to be sarcasted or maching you guys, I am just asking in away that maybe I need to change any property settings to allow this fearture. Or maybe I don't have somtheing turned, or what. I don't know please help. |

Allright ... i've got SoundForge 6.0b (full version) running on one computer, and Sound Forge Studio 5.0b running on another one so i can compare them. I only see the Edit Sample menu option on the full version. Your Sound Forge Deluxe and Sound Forge XP are the "lite" versions and apparently don't include this function. |

Thanks Chienworks. Please excuse me for that question, though both versions where givin to me. Thats why I didn't understand. Sound Forge Deluxe came with my computer, and when I purchased Director 8.5, they included Sound Forge 4.5 XP, becuase Director 8.5 can't read the markers in Sound Forge 1.0. So technically I didn't know that these where light versions of Sound Forge. Though tommorow I am most definately buying the full version of 6.0 Note... Before I ask my next question, since this has to do with reading markers and Director 8.5 could only read Sound Forge 4.5 XP markers and before Sound Forge 6.0 was released, let explain what Director is for first. Director is almost like using MS Power Point. It is a way of creating digital media which can then be exported as Flash or Shockwave if you like to place it on the web. After creating the markers in Sound Forge you can then place that sound file in the sound channel of Director. Then you can create your media to pause until it hits that cue point (or what Sound Forge calls it markers) by loading the cue points into different parts of your media. For example lets say you didn't want a user to see a video clip until your sound file reaches the cue point that you created in Sound Forge. You would then load that cue point into Director and tell it to pause where the video clip starts. Now to my question. Since Director could only read Sound Forge 4.5 XP markers and before Sound Forge 6.0 was released, now that Sound Forge 6.0 is out, do you think Director 8.5 could have problems reading Sound Forge 6.0 markers, or should I install Sound Forge 6.0 in a different folder and keep Sound Forge 4.5 XP for Director use only? I ask this because I would still need to use Director for creating media, though I would also like to use Sound Forge for looping wave files. What do you think I should do? I need to make sure that Director can read markers as well. So if all possible if you could help me on this last question I would appreciate it. thanks |

Markers are markers. And markers are not loop points. |

Buckskin, you wrote "Markers are markers. And markers are not loop points." I think you are missing the point. Yes I understand the difference between markers and loop points. Though markers are not markers when it comes to compatiblity with other Software, because Director could not read older versions of Sound Forge. I guess it is because maybe they changed the format on how wave files are read when including markers. Though it is just like tring to play new game that requires DirectX 8.0 but you you only have DirectX 4.0. It can't be done. So the thing I am tring to explain is I use Sound Forge for 2 different reasons. One reason I would like to use Sound Forge is to make loops for my music in Fruityloops which means I would need to buy Sound Forge 6.0. The second reason why I use Sound Forge for is my Multi Media stuff in Director. However when running Director 8.5. I was told not to use Sound Forge 1.0 and I want to know if this also applies to Sound Forge 6.0? So should I or should I not worry about this compatability problem again? |

I would think that version 6 should be compatible with anything that worked with 4.5. You don't have to worry about it too much though. Version 6 will by default automatically install in a separate folder leaving 4.5XP intact. You can also install and try out the demo of 6 first if you wish. That way you'll be able to see if the markers work or not before you buy it. |
