Subject:help Posted by: bongbox Date:1/23/2003 10:27:34 PM hello everyone outhere i just want to know how i can take off the voice that is singing in the song in mp3 file, i want only the sounds itself none is singing, sorry bout my english hope anyone will understand what i mean, only the instrumental no voice singing

It is excellent at removing stable definite vocals from the centre of the stereo image (while retaining bass, etc), but less effective the more reverb, effects, or panning there is on that vocal. geoff

You can achieve the same effect as the vocal remover manually in XP/Studio with some copying and pasting. Open up your stereo file and also create a new mono file. In the stereo file, highlight just the left channel and copy it. Paste the left channel into the new mono file. Highlight just the right channel of the stereo file, invert it, and copy it. Paste/Mix the inverted right channel into the new mono file (with the cursor at the beginning again). This will combine the two channels and cancel out anything that is identical between them. Often the lead vocal is panned dead center in the mix so this gets eliminated. This process often isn't very good. If the vocal is off center, you'll have to play with the mixing levels to get it to cancel out properly. Usually any effects added to the vocal (such as reverb) are stereo so they will remain. Background vocals are also often somewhat stereo so they may be partially cancelled. Also, any of the music that is the same in both channels is cancelled as well. This often includes bass and drums. The overall effect usually sounds like the music has been squashed and a ghostly remnant of the vocals hovers over it.
