Subject:Playback chokes up AND cpu goes to 0%

4.0b p4 2.4GHz Gina soundcard latest drivers.

This happens even with super small files 10 traks 4 mesures long.
I push play , everything plays for about 6 beats and then It chokes up and studders for seconds at a time. While looking at cpu meter during this I noticed it goes to 0% while playback has stopped and jumps back to its normal state ( ~8-10% ) when playback restarts.
Anyone?
