Hello I have three questions about the new DVD program in the vegas 4 + dvd bundle.

Can you have motion menus?

And will it allow you to be able to play the fbi warning before the menus...but not allow you to skip it...kind of a "must see it" feature?

And finally will it allow plug in's? If they can be used to perform the above.

Thanks.

Motion menus and a first play movie are supported in DVDA.

Motion menus appear to be availabe for both the menu background AND menu buttons. That is GREAT. However, the "first play" is a little weak. You can definitely put a video in the File - Properties page setting and it will play first. However, that is not a "true" first play in my opinion. I should be able to set up a video with chapter points and menus and select that video as the first play - chapter points and all. "First Play" should be able to use ANY video clip OR menu and menu buttons should be able to point to ANY other menu - not just the parent or child. However, I'll still purchase it because it will provide everything I need for 99% of my projects better than anything else I have seen.

It is possible to author in DVDA and then.. er, edit the files produced in the 'Prepare' cycle so that you do get a first-play movie complete with chapter points, thumbnails, animation and a partridge in a pear tree.
Unfortunately, this step - which is outside the ambit of DVDA - is not for everyone and requires some knowledge of the structure of the IFO files prepared for the DVD.
There is also a way you can do it by a slightly laborious series of steps actually within DVDA, but it is a long way round and not immediately obvious or intuitive.

I have to say that I, too, am sad that this feature is not provided out-of-the-box; I think it's something that will be missed by many.
