Subject:Line2/Mic2 connection on Live! Drive

As I was reading the online manual for my Live! Drive to see whether or not I would be able to connect an ART DI/O converter to the S/PDIF in on my Live! Drive and bypass the converters on the card (by the way, I still don't know the answer to this.....does anyone else know if it is a pretty straightforward connection????) I did come across the following text, which I cut and pasted, below: Connecting Microphone There are two types of microphone which you can connect to the Live! Drive: Dynamic microphone, which is usually fitted with a ¼" stereo plug, such as those used in vocal performances. Condenser microphone, which is usually fitted with a 3.5mm stereo plug, such as the Telex microphone bundled with Creative audio products. By default, Live! Drive is set for use with a condenser microphone. To use a dynamic microphone, you must place the shunt (jumper cap) onto Jumper C85 on the Live! Drive. See Figure 1-5 for the location of Jumper C85 on the Live! Drive. Now, I don't know how much difference this jumper would make, but I checked the plastic bag inside my Live! box, and sure enough there was the little jumper the manual talks about! This would set up the Line2/Mic2 for a DYNAMIC mic instead of a CONDENSER mic. Has anyone made this change for better/worse? Thanks for replying, Fresnog |

Mine is setted to dynamic and when I plug a condenser mic it doesn't work at all. I would suggest you don't use the mic preamp of the drive because it sucks a lot, I wuold leave the knob at the line setting and use a mixer as a preamp. |
