Recommend a Good Home Recording Mag -ACID Product Family

I'm asking it for someone who really needs help starting from basic-basics and moving quickly toward more intermediate-level expertise to help them get a recording made (of piano playing) for their family. Can anyone recommend a really good magazine (electronic and/or print) that would not blow a newbie's mind with all the intricacies and complexities of digital audio recording but still would give them a solid foundation of clearly conveyed information on which they can build and from which they can start knowing what to look for online to learn more? I've already recommended Computer Music Magazine and Sound on Sound, but I notice myself when going to these pages that they are heavily weighted toward DAW and tend to lead you off into the kit-wilderness (CM does, for sure!). So maybe a print mag would be better. I've seen that "Home Recording" one for sale online...but does anyone know if it's any good? Or is there something else? One that's heavily weighted toward setting up rock-band gear in the basement would not do. Graduated-from-newbies: Weigh in with your favorite sources of information. Good, basic stuff with a minimum of "tech" language that I think many folks, including myself, appreciate. I also like "EQ" which gets a bit more in depth in their articles. "Mix" is geared more toward the high-end pro studio group. However, virtually all the information in all of the recording mags can be found on the web somewhere. drbam
