i created a bus, but find no instruction on how to assign tracks to it.

i want to group the faders into subgroups. thank you

I'm not sure what you mean by grouping faders but after creating a bus click the small square box above the volume slider on each track you want to assign. That's the device selector and gives you a drop down list of buses to use.

Pressing U on the keyboard shows/hides the bus tracks. You can put envelopes on the bus track here. To assign effects to a bus hit the plug-in-chooser. That's the small green button. It's also possible to create a 'package' of effects by giving it a name and saving it. THat way you can use the same 'effects package' in every project without creating it afresh each time.
