Subject:Acid Crash & M-Audio Omni Drivers note to Billy

I have a problem with ACID Pro 4.0b crashing erradically when trying to record a signal (guitar or vocal) through Omni Studio. I also use SONAR and have stayed away from installing the M-Audio beta Delta_29x12_Pro.EXE driver instead staying with the Delta_wdm_510027.EXE driver. Soft Synths and Midi run fine and Omni drivers seem stable until attempting to record with Acid. Any ideas? Billy, you wrote "The ACID40.BETA.EXE, which was released last September to address some ACID 4 related ASIO issues..." Could you please send me a copy? (kleblanc@prodigy.net) Thanks, Kurt |

Delta_29x12_Pro.EXE (beta or not) is about as stable as it gets. And works beauty with Acid 4.0b. I have used in since it became available and I have the Delta 66/Omni bundle....no problems whatsoever. Cuzin B |

Thanks Cuzin B. I'll give it a try. I read some posts that made me want to wait. I'll let you know if it works out for my system. Kurt |

Hey Kurt, The Delta_29x12_Pro.EXE(also beta released on 12/11/02)drivers have given me trouble before in SONAR 2.1, ACID Pro 4.0b & SF6.0d: I would lose audio in SF6.0d and ACID 4.0b. The level meters in the software would move as normal, but no audio or meter movement from the Delta device. I would get audio with the Multichannel drivers but not with the normal, single channel ones in SF6.0d. I would eventually get a blue screen when previewing ACIDized loops in SONAR 2.1(especially multiple loop preview) & loop preview in ACID 4.0b. Since I need drivers that work well with all of these apps, I went back to my previous drivers(Delta_WDM_ ACID40Fix_BETA.EXE)and all is well again and I am able to achieve stable low latencies and loop previews in both SONAR 2.1 & ACID 4.0b.In fact, I am using them now in Vegas 4.0 Beta and the new input monitoring feature is working fine. Now I can load up the Amplitube VST amp sim(with the latest FXpansion 4.2 adapter) and play my Les Paul in real-time, with the same response, as if I'm playing my external POD. For me, in my situation, the ACID40Fix_BETA drivers are the best solution. I will e-mail them to you, if you happen to find, you need the drivers in the future. Best regards, Billy Buck |

Thanks Billy. Our setups are almost identical. I also use SF6.0d and Vegas 3.0c and will soon DL the V4 beta. I've only had Omni Studio for about a month and haven't tested with Vegas yet. Thanks for the tips and the email. I'll keep you up-to-date, I'm also active at DigiFreq since they also cover SONAR 2.1 (soon to be 2.2!) and GigaStudio (which I've found to be fantastic) along with Livesynth Pro SF2 player, M-Audio issues, etc. BTW, how did you like the Artbeats film clips from 2002 VAST in Atlanta? I think you where in the front row. Did you see pictures of the seminar on DSE's website? FYI, I'm seated right behind your left shoulder two rows back. Kurt |

Kurt, Oh yeah, the big prize I won @ the end of the seminar:) Pretty cool, although I initially thought I had won the complete package, instead of the "Starter Kit". Which is just a (1) CDROM sampler of the entire ArtBeats catalogue. But, still it was a nice freebie. I just took a look at the pictures you mentioned, on the VAST website, I did not realize that I was actually in one of them :) I had a lot of fun, and learned some new things along the way. Yes, SONAR as my all-around general purpose sequencer, ACID Pro for a great loop arranging tool, Sound Forge for dedicated audio editing and pre-mastering and of course Vegas for video editing and CD burning. That just about covers all the bases, now doesn't it. Billy Buck |
