Subject:Acid 4.0 Files and Mysterious "Temp Window"

I've noticed that with some (not all) Acid 4.0 files, when opened, will start a "temp window" application running. When I ctl+alt+del there are two programs running: Acid 4.0 and this "temp window". What is this and how come it doesn't always start up on every file? I've noticed that it doesn't start up when I open an Acid 3.0 file at all; only on certain 4.0 files. Anybody have any ideas? |

thats your Auto-save/crash protect; if you have checked(or un-checked) in preferences and opens into C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Sonic Foundry\ACID\4.0\folder in explorer(default) you can find/set the path right in preferences too when runnin AP4) ... however this file does go away when done w/file or using app so ... I know thats not maybe what you want but maybe in part ? also think it auto-saves when activated(also in preferences) every 5 minutes(not sure now if thats adjustable) hope that helps a bit :) Bo oh yeh, maybe you see it in windows appp folder after crash recovery as it Does stay behind then but if no crash recover neccessary it doesnt remain behind |

>>thats your Auto-save/crash protect; If you are speaking about ACID's auto save, then no, this is not what is causing this. Autosave is done completely internally. We don't lauch any external apps. It is more likely that some plugin or service on the system is creating thie window. Quicktime does this. There are some audio drivers that also do this. There are many DX plugins and I believe one of the VST to DX adaptors also does this. Some of the VST instruments that can be used stand alone also launch and exe and create a window. Peter |

I do run the Waves Gold Bundle plugins. I also have the EVP73, LM4, FM7, Pro-52, Mercury to name a few. Could any of these be creating the temp window? |

I think that Mercury does this, but I can't test now as I dont have it installed. Peter |
