I notice that i can't select my instrument or it isn't recognized in soft synth. I know that with cakewalk i needed to import my instrument definitions. is this the same thing? I see that acid comes with some voice as a defualt and i can only access one i think. can i bypass this feature? I realize that maybe that feature might not be compatable with my keyboard. I am still try to get this rendering thing figured out. Mako Soft synth just make it more complicated |

im not exactly sure what youre asking. do you have instruments installed on your system? when you click on INSERT SOFT SYNTH, what is in the box that pops up? if theres nothing there, then you have to tell Acid where they are located. then go ahead and refresh this screen and it will find all of them for you. then just check the box next to each one you think youll use. simple as that. -Sin |

The window that pops up is a soft synth chooser. In that box i have one option dls soft synth. At the bottom the is a box that say vsti instrument definitions. when i select dls i get a list of patches and when i am playing only those patches are recognized. I am wonder what i have to do to get my keyboard patches to be recognized or if it is even possible. I get the the impression thatit should be somehow. I hope this makes sense. I want to be able to render my projects and i am having a difficult time with my external midi device. I thought maybe activating soft synth would be the answer but so far it is making more confused. Thanks for any input, Mako |

Check the VSTi tab in the Preferences setup. Be sure you have the path to the VST instruments set to match what's on your system. For convenience, I put all of mine in /Programs/VSTplugins and have all my programs look there for them. Otherwise, they all seem to want to put them into their own directories. Remember to Refresh the list. |

I think that i am unable to use that feature since I have an analog synth. That explains some of my frustration last night. I had to basically walk away from the computer. I feel that i am close to being able to do what i want. Like anything else practice makes perfect. It is still an easier program than some others. Some of the other don't even give you the option of changing the format. Once i can get rendering to work i am there. i am thinking of a seperate program altogether to change formats. That is if i still continue to have probs. in that area. mako |

Mako, if you've got a computer, you can use a digital soft synth. You have to set things up properly, but your computer--your RAM is probably more accurate--is basically what plays the synth. Diane |
