Well I reinstalled Windows XP - everything! I had a nasty moment when it looked like Acid 4.0b was going to reject my registration number but that was a mistake on my part (I cut and pasted the wrong number!). But now when I launch Acid every time I get a 'CTASIO' warning: "The Creative Asio devices have been changed. You may need to restart this program before using Creative Asio Devices". This warning comes up twice if I have Windows Classic Wave Drive or Microsoft Sound Mapper selected. It comes up 4 times if I try selecting either the Creative ASIO option or the Creative EMU10KxAsio option. Has this happened to anyone else. Any suggestions to stop this behaviour apart from ditching the Audigy card? Thanks, Chris (Hunt) |

Well I'm replying to my own message in the hope that someone else will follow. Is anyone else getting warning Asio messages when they start up Acid 4.0B? I have a Creative Audigy Platinum Ext. soundcard. Any idea how to make them go away? Chris (Hunt) |

Indeed, try uninstalling/reinstalling anything related to the Audigy first. Iacobus |

I get around the Creative junk by installing only the drivers and none of the other 10,000 things that come with it. As long as the card works and is not using a critical IRQ (video card) I have Audigy, Win2k, Acid 4.05b, forge 6.0d, vegas 3.0c, batch, etc. James J. Kizak |

I went through this same problem. Actually I had a lot of problems when installing the Audigy 2 on XP. I had a problem where I got no bass output. It was there but very low. I'm guessing it was some filter even though no EAX effects were on. I've spent the last 24 hours trying different combinations of drivers, updates, and the Creative apps that shipped with the card. I have to say they apps have the most amazing ability to destroy any hope of you using your computer for anything other than running a screen saver. My advice to you is to go into add/remove programs and remove anything that's installed for Creative. This includes any Creative applications, previous SB versions, and Sound Blaster Audigy. Make sure you have the new drivers d/l from the Creative site. DO NOT USE THEIR WEB UPDATE UTILITY. Go to the manual d/l of only the driver package. Unpack the drivers to a folder. Go into Device Manager, right click on the Audigy and select uninstall. Reboot the computer. After the reboot you may get prompted for the drivers to use. Point to the unpacked driver directory. Once that's done go into device manager, right click Audigy, and select update driver. Use the unpacked driver files location. This should get everything to the latest driver version and clear up your problem. As a precaution you might want to make an XP Restore Point (Accessories/System Tools/System Restore) before doing any of this. Given everything I've seen with uninstalling and reinstalling these horrible drivers and apps I wish you luck with this. Hopefully this will get you straightened out. |

I had a similar problem, in that Acid 4.0 wouldn't even register that I had an Audigy, it only listed Microsoft Sound Mapper or something (sorry, I'm at work right now and can't see). I deleted the Microsoft audio drivers like the manual says, and presto, the audigy appeared (actually not even listed as audigy, but creative something or other in the Acid Audio tab). Still, when I try to select the Audigy, I get an error that the audio card cannot support the requested latency, etc. Hopefully I'll have time to post the details at home, for now, thats my totally unhelpful two cents :) Maybe I'll have to toss the card and get another one, sigh... Are Audigy's all that bad for pro audio? |

Okay, I think I've sorted out my problem with the Audigy card. It seems that it uses a sample rate of 48KHz. When I selected the Creative ASIO device and set my projects with a sample rate of 48KHz everything seems to be okay. Just make sure you have the latest drivers from Creative. Hope this helps. |
