Subject:Burn to CD doesn`t !! 4.0b Posted by: songsmith Date:1/15/2003 6:13:40 PM Hi, just something that`s been nagging the life out of me. If I try to use the burn to CD function or simply run a test all goes well until halfway along the blue bar then everything grinds to a halt,the buffer reads zero, the time remaning keeps climbing and I have to do some scary ctrl,alt,delete stuff to get back the use of my PC. Although I suppose this is a minor irritation cos I can always render song to wav and burn it from there, being an obssesive type I would love to get this function functioning, as it were. I run Nero5 and have experienced no other prob`s with burning whatsoever. Many thanx.

This sounds pretty weak but I really have no idea of the manufacturer, the PC was put together for me before I knew anything about such things. I`ve got Aida32 (benchmarking tool) on my PC and for the CD/RW it simply displays a row of question marks! I guess from that you can work out that it`s a pretty cheap and nasty one although as I said it`s worked perfectly with Nero for some time now.Do you think upgrading my writer would help with this problem?? S.S.

I was asking because some Plextor drives and Sonic Foundy software SOMETIMES don't play well together. Can you give information about yor PC? Processor type: AMD or Intel...Athlon or Celeron or PIII or PIV Processor speed? How much Memory? Etc. Maybe someone else can chime in here with ideas. M
Subject:RE: Burn to CD doesn`t !! 4.0b Reply by: songsmith Date:1/15/2003 8:18:23 PM AMD athlon 1.1, 256ram, Audiophile s/c, running 98se, I guess this is a bit underspec, am very close to upgrading to a dedicated Millenium machine or similar, most people advise that at least 2gig processor should be used for musical app`s....by the way do you know how to remove dead plug-ins from the plug-in chooser as that one seems to have died the death?? Am gonna have to hit the sack in a min, it`s 2.15am in the UK but I`ll check in again tommorow. Thanks once again for your input, it`s greatly appreciated. S.S.
