Alex, I got this this morning but haven't had a chance to play with it yet. I have a question about it: Does it pull the soundfonts directly from what's loaded in your soundcard? And what does it do with them after that? I ask because I have an SB Live! (which takes soundfonts for midi output) and also an Echo Mia (that has no midi outputs). I'm using my Mia as my audio-work card (with headphones and mostly VSTis) and the Live card outputting to speakers just to listen to things once I've finished with them. But if there was a way to get the SB Live! soundfonts routed so they come out of the Mia, without having to resort to something like Kontakt to pull them in, that would be very cool. I'm sure there's a way to do it, but I haven't fully investigated it yet. Would this plug-in be useful for this? Diane |

Diane: I also am using the Echo Mia card along with the SB Live. Both cards have digital interfaces. All you have to do is get a digital S/PDIF cable (available at music stores or some computer stores) and plug the digital output of the Live card into the digital input of the Mia card. (Although the digital outputs look like standard RCA jacks you should resist the urge to use standard RCA cables to connect the two cards. You really should use a special digital S/PDIF cable.) It works very well for me. You can control the output level of the Live card from the Mia control panel. Just make sure to use the Mia card for the clock source. Hope this is helpful. Baxter |

Baxter, this is cool. Because I've already got exactly the cable I need for it! It's one of about $50 worth of wrong cables I bought when I first got my Mia card, trying to get headphones jacked into the Mia so it would output true stereo! :) Somebody had suggested this technique to me before, but they were saying I had to disable this and that to avoid feedback and stuff that I just did not understand. But you're saying you just hook up the cable as you suggest and you're good to go? Cool. |

Not to hijack this link, but I to have an echo mia sblive combination. I have tried digitally linking the cards which works well, but when ever I use these cards together in acid (or anything else) and use sound fonts and midi I get lock ups every time. I have tried all the creative/microsoft drivers I can find, but all of them do the same thing. If I use the kx drivers my lockups go away in my other audio programs, but not in acid. My only option is to disable the sblive when working with audio, or vstis and disable the mia when using soundfonts. Any ideas. windows xp ecs k7s5a athlon 1.3 |
