A 5.1 project, unless you have the 5.1 Surround Plug-In Pack, will always render as 6 separate WAV files. You basically either need the 5.1 Surround Plug-In Pack, or a separate DVD authoring program once ACID renders the six tracks. HTH, Iacobus |

the plugin pack does not render dolby digital wave files. Just .ac3 files. |

Once you render, you must burn it to DVD using the included AC-3 DVD burner. (Tools>Start AC-3 DVD Burner on the menu bar.) HTH, Iacobus |

Ahh... 5.1 surround is pretty much exclusive to DVD audio right now, not CD audio, which is limited to stereo only. (I believe the forthcoming Super CD format does surround but I'm not sure.) I also know Microsoft just released the Windows Media Player 9 Series, which has support for multichannel sound. I suppose it's just a matter of time for other devices such as MP3/WMA players and CD/DVD players to support WMA 9 (as well as SoFo's line of apps). Iacobus |

Won't work for AC3 but you have an alternative. You need special software to encode DTS. It'll output .dts file, which you can rename .wav and burn to CD with Nero, for example. If you put this CD into most DVD players they will correctly recognize track as DTS encoded and will properly decode it (assuming DVD player supports DTS standard) and play on 5.1 audio system. But be careful, not all hardware will play such tracks properly, some will not recognize it and will not decode. That will produce sound that essentially can ruin your sound system. If you try it, do it on lowest volume possible. www.surcode.com has DTS encoder (expensive though). Alexei |

every .wav file extracted from original audio cd work as 5.1 surround on home surround decoder so why we can't render as .wav file |

Probably because your home decoder is "faking" surround as many systems do. There's just simply no specification for surround in the WAV file format. Iacobus |
