Subject:uninstalling ASIO drivers

As mentioned earlier, I have M-Audio ASIO drivers listed twice in my ACID drop down menu (an absynth). Someone told me that un-installing an asio driver may not remove
it from the registry. I have tried uninstalling using all versions of M-audios uninstallers as wellas the device manager. Any suggestions?

thanks,

Jeff

That is weird. Do you have any other ASIO-compatible apps? If so, are the ASIO drivers listed twice there too? I'd try rummaging through the Registry (using the Find feature), but, as always, be careful.

Both ACID and Absynth show two choices for M-Audio ASIO driver. My NI FM7 demo does too. I have Sonar, Vegas, sound Forge and a bunch of other apps, a few free VST's, but they don't reference ASIO. I should not be fiddling with the registry.

I have emailed M-audio as well.

Sounds like there are two entries in the registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO

is where the ASIO drivers are registered at.

I don't know which one is correct if you have two listed. You had best uninstall the drivers completely and then wipe out any registry keys here that refer to the Maudio hardware and then re-install the MAudio drivers.

Right on Peter you are a genius!...I have two of the same folders that have two of the same files (default) and CLSID.

So to be clear, should I first uninstall M-audio drivers, then delete whatever registry folder(s) remains, then reinstall driver in thatorder?

Thanks,

L

just a suggestion, you may want to make a backup before messing with the registry to be on the safe side. Good luck
