Subject:Simulating stereo and ghettoblaster software?

My mix sounds muddy and dark when I'm listning to my AICD mix on the stereo or on a ghettoblaster. Is there a plug-in that simulates an average stereo so I don't have to burn a lot of different mixes before I get perfect mastermix?

BTW: does a CD burned with CD Architect sound better?

what's your setup? if you're using the speakers that came with your pc, that's the problem. try running the output of your soundcard into your stereo or upgrading the speakers for your pc.

Good idea. I'll try to connect to the stereo. But I'm afraid of some of the crisp sound disappears when I'm burning the CD.

I use Grado Labs SR60 Headphones and Delta 44 soundcard. The sound in the headphones are absolutely perfect (and yes: I know they can't be compared to normal stereo sets). I do also use some small Audix PH-1 active speakers to check my mix.

another thing to consider is rendering your project as a wav file and then tweaking it (eq, compression, etc) in your audio editor. after it sounds the way the way you want it to, burn it to cd via your burning software. Burning right from Acid is not the best way to go, imo.

edit: oh yeah, one more thing, listening to your mix on as many systems as possible (boombox, car stereo, friend's house, etc) helps you identify what needs to be 'fixed'. good luck!

yeah im looking for something like this too!!

for now im loading my rendered wav-files n listen to them in
winamp with different eq-settings to see how they sound ...

you still have to listen to the songs on different stereos, tho,
but you can actually tell if there's too much bass n stuff if you choose an eq setting that has the bass boosted a lil ...

for the "ghettoblaster" sound : put the cd into a playstation n listen to it over a cheap tv set (or even worse yet: a tv set set to mono! :) )

I found an old boombox with inputs. I check my mixes on it. It won't replace good monitors, but it serves a purpose.
