Why does my instrumental track, (main track) play back in my vocal track during recording? Im not getting my vocal track to record without also recording the tracks heard during recording. Can anyone help me? |

You need to make sure the signal isn't playing on the track your mic is on. On my set up, I have two stereo pairs going into my computer. 1/2 and 3/4. 1/2 is the main out from my mixing board. 3/4 are direct ins from 2 tracks on my mixing board. When I'm recording vocals or guitars, I plug in to either of those tracks on my board and select stereo pair 3/4 as the input on my sound card. That way, I can listen to the whole mix, but the only thing the computer "records" is the direct signal from track 1 & 2. If I choose stereo pair 1/2 as the source, nothing changes except that EVERYTHING that I hear in the mix will be recorded -- not just my vocal/guitar tracks. If you only have "one" input, I'm not sure how you'd do it. |

Consult your soundcard's software mixer and ensure that only the desired input is selected for recording. Typically, something like a Live! or Audigy has "What U Hear" enabled. HTH, Iacobus |
