Subject:Busses?

Alright, I've been using Acid for almost a year now and am kind of embarassed to ask this but I'm still confused about busses. Basically I'm not seeing how they are that much different from effects envelopes. Could someone explain a little further?

Maybe my work flow just doesn't need to utilize the full capabilities of busses?? Pretty much I compose all my parts using VSTi's in ACID, render to audio, mix in ACID and tweak a little in Sound Forge. It just seems like I *should* or *could* be utilizing busses, but it hasn't occured to me what I could do with them that I can't do with an effects envelope. Thanks.

Busses are great when you want to save on cpu. Your method of mixing is fine.
If you have enough cpu to go around or you like printing the effect to audio in soundforge or from the acid timeline your good to go.

Basically...all a buss is, is an effect you would use on every track...like compression or maybe eq. like if you wanted the same eq on every track, instead of setting it on every track, just send it to a buss, then just adjust the level on each track.

like the last post said, it just saves processing power and is a shortcut....if you will.

hope that helps ya!
