A type of 1 means that the file contains one or more simultaneous tracks, perhaps each on a single midi channel.

A type of 0 means that the file contains one single track containing midi data on possibly all 16 midi channels

how can i tell the differeance in acid?

in track properties the reason midi file shows 20 tracks-all channel 1

is that type 1 or 0

That sounds like type 0. My midi 1 files come in with different tracks listed for each voice in the General Editor. I have to export it to midi type 1 from my scoring program. Surely Reason has a way to do that?

I just found in reason guide that reason exports smf 1 but all channels are exported as channel one because reason does not use channels.

That's crummy! And hard to believe with a program of Reason's stature! I guess you'd have to solo each channel and save it as a separate file from Reason, then. Not something I'd want to have to do.

Maybe some of the Reason users here can advise you better on how to accomplish this without headaches. Breaking midi channels out to separate tracks is pretty basic and vital, IMO.
