I am trying to save my work i made in Acid 2.0 so that i can burn it down on a CD-R. I dont want to have it as a WAW file, what im looking for is a way to save my work so I still can mix it. Ive tried to burn track by track as WAW files but it take alot of time and isnt the same as mixing in the Acid mode, there must be some exportfunction ive missed? I work mostly in cubase nowadays so i want to free some discspace.. Would be glad for some advice. Åsa |

Let me get this straight: You don't want to have big wave files, but you want to be able to remix it later? Is the CD you're burning to meant to be an audio CD (for listening) or a backup CD of data? Even though technically they are audio files, I think of wave files (for later mixing, applying effects, etc.) as data. I think of midi files as data. I think of mixed audio files as audio files that I can't go back and remix later...because, well, because they're already mixed. Can't take the chocolate out of chocolate milk once it's in there. If you want small data files for backup purposes, midi is the way to go. If you want dry audio files that you can use for mixing different versions of something quickly, wave is the way to go. (I think of dry audio waves, with the instruments separated out, as one step removed, workwise, from midi files. Meaning I don't have to do it again. I don't have to render them out again.) There's just no getting around those huge wave files, not if you want quality backups. A DVD burner is a nice thing to have. I can even back up 32-bit waves with mine if I need to, although they take up twice as much room as 16-bit files. Now, if that's wasn't what you meant, I don't know if Acid 2.0 has a render-to-separate tracks function. Acid 4.0 does, so you can render out everything without having to think about it, and it will be in separate wave files. But you said you didn't want a wave file. I take that to mean what you want is separate waves. |

Thanks a lot for your answer. I realize now that the only way is to do it like i am doing. A little stupid of me..(Blushing) But how do i get around the problem with getting my songfiles in stereo. I mean the song is normally in mono but its panorated left right isnt it? Åsa |

Mix it down to stereo. There should be a choice of mono or stereo mixdowns. Look at "Render As" (the help file would be helpful). |
