Subject:Saving 24-bit to 16-bit

If I have a wav recorded at 24-bit/44.1 and brought into SF 6 to "master" and then applied a dithering plug-in, when I save the file as a 16-bit does SF apply another dither, or does it assume the dithering was already done?

I don't think Sound Forge will dither it again, but I'm not sure as I'm no propellerhead on the issue.

Aren't you supposed to dither while doing the conversion from 24-bit to 16-bit before you save? (Use Process>Bit-Depth Converter on the menu bar?) Again, I'm not a techie on the issue...

Yeah, that's what I am doing: bring the 24-bit file into SF, running my mastering plugs, which includes the dbaudioware mastering limiter which has a dither function, then saving the file as a 16-bit file. I'm just not using the SF dither.
