Anybody downloaded it yet? Any problems, improvements, etc?

I haven't downloaded it because I've been confused about DirectX being included with XP. XP users, if we're current on all the XP updates, does that mean we're also current on the latest DirectX?

1)Go to Start menu and choose "Run..."
2) type in "dxdiag" and press return
3) after a couple of seconds you'll get a window on screen with a whole load of info - near the bottom of the box you'll see "DirectX version: xxxxx." I run WinXP with SP1 installed, and it says 8.1 on my PC.

So you can upgrade to 9 now, or you can wait until others take the risk first!

'Bout freaking time.

Working OK for me so far. (Windows XP SP1 here.) ACID and Sound Forge aren't giving me problems.

Iacobus:
Did you upgrade to DirectX 9.0?

I think the problem will lie, not in installing DX9(I think most apps will work OK), but in what you install afterwoods. Until new updated versions of installers come out, you may not be able to install/re-install your apps after the fact. I am not sure about SOFO, but it has already been reported that trying to install SONAR, after DX9 is on your system, is not possible. The installer will ask for DX8.x, before installing or it won't install. It does not recognize DX9. This can be a problem. Has anybody tried to install a SOFO app after installing DX9?

Just call me the guinea pig. ;)

Steve: Yes.

Billy Buck: I've uninstalled both ACID Pro 4.0 and Sound Forge 6.0 completely (including deleting any folder residue) and then reinstalled using the latest builds. Both installed just fine.

There seems to be just one niggling thing with Sound Forge 6.0: As playback occurs, sometimes there's no sound coming out using my Audiophile 2496. Randomly placing the cursor elsewhere or just stopping and then starting it again fixes it. (Could be the drivers for the Audiophile, as this doesn't happen with a USB Duo, which I also own. I'm going to try reinstalling the drivers for the Audiophile next.)

HTH,

Yeah, we like guinea pigs :)

Thanks for clearing that up Iacobus. Looks like SOFO's installer's are good to go.
