Subject:24-bit recording with ESI Waveterminal 192x

I have an ESI Waveterminal 192x soundcard. With my Acid Pro 3.0g I can't record at 24-bit resolution. The input level meter doesn't move and the resulting wave is silence.
At 16-bit resolution all sample rates up to 192 KHz work. (24-bits resolution works at 8 kHz and 11 kHz)
I am using WinXP home SP1 on an P4/2GHz.
24 bit recording works fine with Sonar and Cool Edit.

What is wrong?

Thanks,
Bjorn

Hi Bjorn,

I can't offer you any help, but I can verify that the same problem occurs with Acid Pro 3.0g on my computer with the Waveterminal 192X (and Waveterminal 2496). I have both Acid 3.0g and 4.0b installed, and this problem does not happen with Acid 4.0b.

I had a nightmare trying to get the older WaveTerminal 2496 to work with Acid Pro 3, and I gave up and used the Audigy. The WaveTerminal 2496 worked with every other audio application I had, including the two you mentioned. The same story occurs with the Waveterminal 192X. Absent compelling information from elsewhere, it appears that the problem is not going to be solved, and that it is a conflict between Acid Pro 3 versions and the waveterminals. However, I hope that someone with either the Waveterminal 2496 or the Waveterminal 192X steps up and proves me wrong.

I think you are going to have to upgrade to Acid Pro 4. Although there are some kinks in Acid Pro 4, Acid Pro 4, Waveterminal 2496, and Waveterminal 192X peacefully co-exist.

I know that's not the answer you wanted, but that's the best I can give you.

regards,
Larry W.
