Subject:To SoFo: Soundfont support?

Are there any plans for ACID to natively support Soundfonts (any time soon) for soundcards that support them? I'd love to get rid of Cakewalk!!!!!!!!!!! I know I can access them via VSTs, but latency becomes somewhat of an issue. That is what makes Soundfonts so great.

Okay, for those who are familiar with soundfonts, how are you using them in ACID? I really don't like VSTs, since they 1) require much more cpu power and 2) the latency on them suck unless you have a top notch system. I'd rather utilize the soundcard and use soundfonts, where latency is not an issue at all. Any ideas? Currently I do all of my sequencing in CakeWalk, then I create wav exports for each track and do all of my arranging in ACID. It isn't all that bad, but if I can optimize the process, I will.

Thanks in advance!
Stephen

I prefer SoFo's current DLS support to anything that Cakewalk or Steinberg are doing with SoundFonts. The only thing I wish is that Awave would translate SoundFonts to DLS more accurately.

it doesnt seem like the SOFO people are leaving messages here anymore - have they all gone home?

i dont really mean that as in insult, but when i got acid 2.0, it was the most stable program on my machine (more than word or IE) and now acid 4.0 has 100 features but it crashes too much to be used in my opinon

In the U.S., it's not unusual for people to have a week off for the holidays and not get back into their offices until after the new year. Besides, I expect they burned some major midnight oil trying to get 4.0b out in time for us all to have it over the holidays. I mean, geez, give them a break.
