Is it possible for "bad drivers" to cause your microphones not to work? My microphones do not produce any sound even though I can see my signal led light up! I've tried hooking up the microphones to other sources and they work fine, so it's not the microphone or the cable! And the funny thing is that I have recorded some vocals already in the past in Acid 4.0 and everything worked fine! I've made adjustments in the "patch-bay/router" Delta control panel, but to no avail. Nothing. Has anyone ran across this problem? I was thinking that I just didn't have something routed correctly, but I don't think that's it!! Could it be that my omni studio or card is bad? Should I uninstall and reinstall the drivers?? I have my keyboard hooked up to the omni too and I get sound from it. It's just the microphones that I'm having problems with now. Can anyone please help me? I was about to purchase Sonar(before I read the posts today)and begin tracking vocals this weekend, but then this happened!!

I am not at my house right now, but on the back of the OMNI are two AUX Input buttons
that relate to the two front panel inputs. If these are engaged(pressed in)they cancel out the front panel inputs. I did this accidently one day, and went nuts trying to figure out why I was not getting any signal from a microphone inserted into the front panel MIC jack. I have had my Delta 66/OMNI bundle,for nearly two years now and absolutely love it. I have no need or desire for any other audio card, I am getting 5msec(256 samples/ASIO mode)latencies in ACID Pro 4.0b and 1.5msec(64 samples/WDM mode) in SONAR 2.1 @ 24/44. The OMNI I/O is just icing on the cake, with it's flexible routing scheme and clean sounding DMP2 preamps and XLR phantom power.
BTW, SONAR 2.1 is a fantastic full featured app, with more upsides than downsides.
The next 2.2 update should be out, late January or early February. Checkout the Cakewalk SONAR newsgroup(you can find it at Cakes website, www.cakewalk.com),
and ask any questions that you might have. We won't bite, I promise :)

Hallelujah!!! Man thanks for responding Billy Buck!!! You just saved my weekend, my friend!! I'm sure that is my problem, because I do have that insert button on the back engaged!!! Whewwwwwwwwwwwwww!! I thought my omni bundle was corrupted or something. Thanks again man!! Since you have a similiar set up as mine, I hope you don't mind me asking you a question or two. Can you explain the following statement: "I am getting 5msec(256 samples/ASIO mode)latencies in ACID Pro 4.0b and 1.5msec(64 samples/WDM mode) in SONAR 2.1 @ 24/44"? What the hell is ASIO? I mean, I've heard about it, but what is the big deal about it? How can it help me? Also, I was wondering, since I was consindering purchasing Sonar, do you know if the version I get will come updated already or would I have to download some type of file to update it after I purchase it? Man, thanks again for the reply!!

ps do you have a keyboard of some kind hooked up too? if so, how do you have it hooked up?

When using ACID Pro 4.0x, if you want to use softsynths in real-time(like playing from a MIDI keyboard) you will need to use the Delta's ASIO drivers. These are automatically made available in ACID 4.0, just select these as your primary audio drivers, under the Audio Options tab. I have found for best overall performance is to place the DMA Buffers in the Delta control panel at 256 samples, which will give you 5msec latency. If you are not using softsynths, you can just stick with the Windows Classic Drivers. Most likely SONAR will come with version 2.0 on CDROM, and you will then download any further updates. I have a couple MIDI controllers, a Roland JX-305 MIDI keyboard and a Roland HPD-15 MIDI HandDrum. I use a Roland UA-100 Audio Canvas as my USB (2) port MIDI interface. Yeah, I like my Roland gear :P
BTW, what version of the Delta WDM drivers are you using? I have found the ACID40Fix.BETA.EXE drivers to be the best when using SONAR and ACID 4.0
Unfortunately, they are no longer available on the M-Audio website, but if you need them, I could email them to you.

I remember reading on the download page once that the Acid40.beta.exe driver didn't have updated WDM support and they referred us to another driver which was better suited for WDM. If your indeed getting the WDM results that you say your getting, then I would be interested in the driver (tonyjarrah@yahoo.com). I never bothered downloading or installing the driver ever since I read the WDM note. How does the beta driver work with other ASIO apps? How is your system stability with the beta driver? Thanks in advance for your help. By the way Antonio, ASIO is a driver stucture that was invented by Steinberg corporation that provides superior minimal latency. Most of the top of the line apps (Cubase, Logic, Native Instruments, etc. excel on ASIO drivers. It is the preferred driver when accepted by an application. WDM drivers are windows 2000/XP driver's which Sonar excels on. Some programs like Cool Edit Pro excel on MME drivers which are Windows Me drivers. I wish they all followed the same protocol. It would make our lives a lot easier.

I believe it was the .31 driver that did not give good WDM support(latency under 10msec). The ACID40.BETA.EXE, which was released last September to address some ACID 4 related ASIO issues, works great in SONAR, also in Live 2.01(ASIO mode). I've
been using it since its release. I briefly tried the .29x12 beta drivers but starting getting erratic behavior in SONAR, ACID and Sound Forge(Blue Screens) and have gone back to the ACID40.BETA.EXE, which I really have had no performance problems with anyway. I will send them to you.

I used all the drivers you've been talking about, when visiting the M-Audio driver site I read that they suggest...
As this is a BETA Release, Sonar users should consider using the 5.10.00.27 driver for low latency support.* * *
so I've gone back to those.
When they released the Beta version fix for Acid 4.0 they stated it was for the 2496. I grabbed them and still have copies.
I'm getting a bit overwhelmed by all the driver releases, I've got multiple cards and one set of drivers states that they're for multiple card support, so to say the least I'm sometimes reluctant to keep switching up.
