I recently upgraded from acid pro 2 to 4. It seems like the things v2 could do with ease, v4 skips and sputters trying to do... err.. durring playback. I've read through all the posts and followed all the suggestions with little results at all. These are my relavant system specs:

P4 1.8Ghz
512Mb Ram
Win XP Home
SB PCI512
40 Gb of free space

Again, the same projects v2 has no problem with, v4 sputters here and there. ESPECIALLY if there are any effects added. I've even upped my playback buffer to 1 second. using 4.0b. I really like some of the features of 4.0 and don't want to downgrade or go to a different product. My next step is to upgrade my sound card. I'm basically looking for any help from users who have also had this problem. Sound card suggestions are also welcome.. something under $200.

Thanks in advance for the help

Usually has to do with a bad computer, but a P4 1.8 should do it (i'm here with a P3 800) Whenever i push the buffer up, i get better results i dont know whtas up with you. You can try using a program called rambooster or doing a system restore that usually cleans things up. For a sound card, the best cheap "professional" card is the Echo Mia. You'll probably find it for $200, i got mine on sale for $150. Its a little better than the Audiophile because it has balanced ins and outs (like XLR or TRS as apposed to TS or RCA)

hope this babblig helps

DOH! Fixed it. I was focusing on quanity, trying to reduce the number of effects/tracks. Turns out, I can't use the Cakewalk Stereo Reverb plugin without stuff being all jittery. Switched it to a different reverb plugin and everything works fine and dandy. Hope this helps anyone else who may be having a similar issue.
