Working on a soundtrack that's 35 min continuous about 200 tracks total. I'm using a Gateway 2gig PC 500 MB of RAM, Delta 44 card, and Acid 4.0b. My problem is that the project, as its grown larger, is bogging down so much that I can open the file but that's about it. It crashes constantly when I try and perform any editing. The project file is about 190 MB and only about 12 tracks have any effects (enigma, reverb). I know some have suggested to render these tracks, and I have, but the problem persists. I've downloaded the latest drivers from M-Audio for the Delta card, but this isn't helping either. Is my only option to render the whole composition and add new tracks to a rendered wave file? I'm hoping someone has a suggestion that can help. Thanks in advance for your help! Mono |

200 tracks??? Bounce it down, man, bounce it down... :o) Seriously, though, consider bouncing down tracks, especially if everything is basically set in stone. Just solo the tracks you desire to bounce together as one and use CTRL+M. (Remember that you should set the newly rendered track's volume to 0.0 dB to have it match the original tracks' volumes.) If you wish to check out a portion of a project without playing the rest, you can mute the track's that you don't want to hear. This will, of course, improve playback performance. If you're using 24-bit/96 kHz, consider switching to 16-bit/44.1 kHz just to eke out a little more performance until you're ready for the final render. HTH, Iacobus |

Forgot to add to try to keep the number of bounced down tracks to a minimum; it will all depend on the speed and configuration of your system. (Having a 7200 RPM hard drive is always a plus.) Some have been able to do 10 disk-based tracks or more. HTH, Iacobus |
