Hello everybody, December, 18 --- GenieSys OPT MIDI Editor v1.0 was updated up to version 1.0b. The new OPT MIDI Editor 1.0b has 3 changes from 1.0: 1. Fixed our bug with infinite note's playing in notes editing. 2. Play/Stop shortcut with Space key. 3. Track map's columns Key+, Vel+, Port changing presents, but are initially closed. The OPT part of ACID 4.0b have many internal improvements. Some new functions are supported - for example ACID 4.0b can store MIDI Editor's current states of views in project - screen sizes, zoom, columns width and position, etc. We plan to release MIDI Editor v2.0 at the beginning of 2003. And we are waiting from users suggestions for improving. Now we already plan to release follows futures: 1. Note's multi selection (not only by time period) and mass notes operations. 2. Quantizing by template (like groove quantize) in "Jack the Ripper". 3. …etc? GenieSys team. |

I wish there were a way to use the keyboard to select ranges of notes precisely, like clicking a start point, then using CTRL-Right/Left to move the cursor note by note (perhaps CTRL-Shift-Right/Left to move measure by measure) to select. (Whatever combination of keys is standard for this function in the most popular sequencers.) Whatever curve is selected would then be applied by pressing Enter. Some of us find using a mouse extremely difficult due to sports injuries and the like, and the keyboard is less painful and more precise to use. This may actually be true for most people! If there's already a way to select/specify ranges via the keyboard in MidiEditor that I haven't discovered, please let me know. Thanks for the spacebar play in 1.0b, and the other improvements! And 2.0 looks to be great! Quantizer! :) Diane |

I would like to see some sort of piano roll graphic along the side of the note editor for ease in note pitch value navigation. Also, it would be nice if the position of notes in the editor view reflected their actual bar/beat position in the main acid track window, instead of always taking their reference from bar 1. By this I mean if I have a midi region in the acid track window that begins at bar 9, I would expect that the corresponding notes viewed in the opt midi editor would also begin at bar 9, and not bar 1 as seems to be the case. Otherwise, excellent work Alex. Your plugins are really helping to expand our beloved Acid Pro. Happy Holidays, LH |

Higher grid resolution when moving notes around in the Piano Roll Being able to create or add patch names. Setup CC temples for softsynths like Pro-52/53, B4, Synth1 etc. Thanks Alex for the ear. George Ware |

I'd like a simple "line" tool to compliment the pencil tool to make more exact control message changes (similar to Cubase or Orion). Merlyn |

I'd like to second the idea of having a piano roll graphic. It would be great if it were possible to press the graphic piano key, preview the note and see that line in the piano roll highlighted while the key was depressed. Sometimes I put notes in the wrong place with the basic Acid piano roll editor because my eye doesn't follow the correct row. Having the notes named is good. Will version I uses get a free upgrade or any kind of discount for buying version 2? I'm really impressed at the speed with which you respond to people's suggestions. Thanks, Chris (Hunt) |

Hello, everybody! Thank your for your suggestions. Some notes and questions to elaborate it. 1. To Diane: We'll try to enhance keyboard functions, but apply curve by Enter is difficult. But now if you don't want to apply current drawing, just press and hold Escape when left mouse button up. Keyboard range selection will be in 2.0. 2. To LH: Regrettably, this is MIDI file itself, that you can edit via OPT. Regions, offsets are ACID-specifics and this information can't be transmitted via OPT. 3. To George Ware: What minimum grid size do you need? You can create your own names sets right now. This is "Names" subdirectory in MIDI Editor's directory. It contents text files xxx.prg, xxx.ctl and xxx.nts. Don't change it, but you can add 007.prg etc. to have sets, that will be displayed in "Track properties dialog". 4. To Merlyn: This is not already existing line drawing tool (see submenu on draw button - freeform, line, convex and concave curves) ? 5. To Knowbody: a. For all who buy v1.x upgrade to v.2 will be absolutly free. b. Yes, highlighting of piano-roll line for note - it is userfull. |
