I'm looking to put together a portable editing system. I need to edit from BetaSP.
My thought: Vegas Video combined with a Datavideo DAC-2 on my Inspiron laptop with an external firewire drive
Before I spend a grand on the stuff, can anyone tell me if this is going to work? I have Video factory and am pleased with the way it works on the laptop with MiniDV. I hear that if I like Video Factory, I'm gonna love Vegas.
I realize I won't have any batch capture or VTR control wit the DAC-2. How will I capture then? Does Vegas Video have some sort of manual capture? Do I hit PLAY on the Beta deck and click on a "Record" button in Vegas?
How will I print my project back to BetaSP? Does the DAC-2 look like a camcorder to Vegas Video, and I just connect the component outputs to my BetaSP VTR and press Record and Play?
I know there's a few questions here. I've been searching for answers for a few days, and it seems like everyone who's editing with VV3 is either DV or has a Digisuite.
Thanks in advance . . .
Dave
