Subject:Adding Events

Brand new user here with an easy one I'm sure.
I was adding events to my project, and thought everything was cool. Then I removed the CDROM that had the loops on it from the computer, & tried to open the project. But no. Apparently the events didn't "really" get permanently added to the project.
What should I have done, and what do I do now? Thanx.

The events are permanently added to the project; the sound files are not. The ACID project only contains pointers to where the media files came from on the disc, not the files themselves. The files will have to be available each time you open up the project.

A simple solution is to create a directory for your project and copy all the files you wish to use into that directory first, then add them to the project from this directory.

If you save your file as a ".acd-zip" instead of a ".acd file", it will save the loops embedded in the file. The file takes up a lot more space on your hard drive, but if you're loading loops directly off your CD ROM drive, it is the only way to go. By the way, it also embeds any DLS files you have loaded. It also is a great way to archive old files to CD-ROM. They'll play back perfectly in spite of loop library changes. I save my files this way all the time.

If you use the 'save as' dialog box, at the bottom left there is a checkbox saying (something like) "save media with project" - this will copy all the soundfiles into the same directory as the acd file. Best get in the habit of using one directory per project tho' !!!
