Hey, sure!
I'm ALWAYS buying libraries, and I've ALWAYS got an opinion!

I'd be interested to know what loop libraries people use and how. But how do you define how useful a library is. Isn't it a case of one musician's music is another musicians poison? I have lots of loop CD's perhaps I'll go check and see which ones I use on a regular basis and which ones I've hardly touched. But then the uses I have for loops probably don't match other people's.

To be honest, I have not used loop libraries at all. I haven't even used the free stuff yet. I'm pretty new to Acid, from traditional scoring, so it's taking a mind-shift. But I've made a fair number of my own loops for use in my own compositions. It's amazing how quickly you can turn out a ton of useful stuff just by changing out instruments and re-rendering. What I do is compose short segments (2 to 8 bars, generally) that work together contrapuntally, then save each voice line to a separate midi file that I can revisit when I "need something." Then I render out dry waves from that--no effects, usually--saving the effects step for when I'm arranging the loops in Acid.
