Peter, when using OPT plugins (I'm thinking Geniesys' stuff) and listening in Track Properties, does this mean you don't actually hear the entire effects of the plugins as would be heard from the timeline?

Also, I was using a technique of rendering out separate midi channels to audio (separating the voice lines) by keeping Acid's List Editor on screen, soloing each channel in turn, and clicking back into Acid to render them out one by one (List Editor still on screen). When doing this, would the rendered files be the same as if rendered from the timeline? I'm just trying to get dry audio waves at this point, with no effects processing EXCEPT I'm using SampleTank XL (VSTi) and want to be sure the effects that it applies are getting read properly using this technique.

Do you know?

What do you mean soloing each channel?

I have brought in multi "track" midi files and soloed them...is that different then channnel?

What I mean is the midi channels 1-16 that show in the General Editor (Did I say List Editor? Not what I meant.) I'll load up SampleTank for those channels, then go into General Editor and press the Solo button for each of the listed channels, then render the file out--renaming the output to an appropriate name. "Channel" is probably the same thing as a track in a multi-track midi, if I'm understanding you correctly.

I know 4.0a has a bug that makes solo rendering of audio tracks hooey. Also, since Acid doesn't automatically separate out the channels to different tracks (Geniesys' Stolen Track will do it, though), the above is a workaround so I don't have to break the midi files up manually before bringing them into Acid for purposes of getting audio tracks.

ok I was looking at "track name " in general props.I see channels now.

so you are saying you load a midi file that was recorded elsewhere and has several channels and solo a channel at a time , assigined to a softsynth, and render them to audio one at a time. So if you had 5 channels you would have to solo>assign>render to audio-5 times?

or are you splitting midi up?
