Subject:Sound Problem with Acid 4.0a

Suddenly I'm having real problems with Acid. I'll be playing a mix and suddenly the sound will stutter or stop and once or twice Acid has completely crashed (even CTRL+ALT+DEL did nothing). rebooting does not solve the problem.

There's nothing I can pinpoint, except that the mixes that die usually have a combination of midi and wav with one bus attached.

Is anyone else having similar problems. Any ideas folks?

Thanks for the reply - do you mean go back to Acid 4.0 or remove Acid and reinstall 4.0a?

Thanks,

Chris

This problem won't go away. Could it be connected to the midi memory problem? Not knowing at one point the sound is going to lock up in a track is really frustrating. If it weren:t for teh buses I:d be back using Acid 2 - at least that hardly ever hung.

hmph the stuttering usually occurs when the buffer size is set too low...might wanna try settin it to 1 second, n see if it works... if it does you can lower the setting a lil again...

i had crashes like you described when i was using audio tracks with lots of automation + midi tracks that were routed to soft synths...some of those soft synths use up LOTS OF system resources, so even tho you have a pretty fast machine...you might wanna try bouncin those tracks first ("render as...") n then delete the synths...
