I recorded a segment of a movie soundtrack to my harddrive using SoundForge XP Studio 5.0. I saved the file as a WAV file, and then converted it to mp3. I went to burn it to CD-ROM, but it wouldnt record in either my main cd-burnerware or using SoundForge's burnware. My main burnware was unclear as to the cause. It just called it an unrecognized file format. Why an MP3 would be an unrecognized file format I have no idea, but thats what it said. The SFXP5.0 burnware told me I had to resample the MP3 up to 44.1KHz. So, I did like it said, but still niether of my burnware packages worked. I futzed around with the file a bit thinking something else might be wrong... went into properties in SFXP5.0 and manually reset the resample listing to 44.1 (after doing the resample), and that allowed it to record, but the recording doesnt play on my discman. Can someone tell me why this isnt working? Thanks, Will |

Some burning programs are not able to convert MP3's to .wav files on the fly. One option would be to burn the .wav file to cd. If you want a disk full of MP3's, burn it as a DATA disk not AUDIO. A lot of DVD players will play MP'3 on a DATA disk, I have a walkman-like cd player that will read data disks with MP3's as well as regular audio CD's. I suggest that you check out some of the CD related news groups. Steve |
