egosys/esi cards have directwire. it allows you to route signal from/to several sources (mme, asio, gsif, and multi-mme). with that i can route audio from cubase to acid, widows media player to acid, wavelab to acid, or vice versa etc...

there may be a way to run a jumper between cards but i haven't had to try that.

i just did it with 2 sblive cards

1. route speaker output of the first card into the line input of the second.
2. open control panel>sounds and set card 1 as playback and card 2 for recording.

you may have to use a splitter on card 1 to route the output to card 2 and your speakers.

Here's what you're looking for. I've never tried it. I wonder how well it works?

it seems that directwire is better because you can mix different drivers mme/gsif/asio, but it's hardware dependant. i have a ego-sys u2a interface and directwire isn't included with my driver. that sucks.

if you used directwire with midi loopback wouldn't that equal REWIRE?

i'm still trying to get around the crappy asio performance i'm getting from acid pro 4.0a.

i just want to be able to sequence vsti and loops without adjusting audio settings every 5 minutes.

I have an Egosys U2A as well but I haven't been able to get it to work properly. I get superb performance from my Edirol UA-700 though, which is also USB.
