Subject:Rendering Midi Problem

I have a soundblaster Audigy card and some midi tracks using the card (Device 1 = SB Audigy Snyth A [A800]). When I render the project these tracks are not included.

If I insert a soft snyth (eg the DLS Soft snyth) and attach that the tracks are rendered. But at the moment if I insert a patch in a single midi track it seems to effect all tracks linked to the DLS snyth. In other words I can use the Audigy snyth and have different patches and be unable to render the track or I can use the DLS snyth and be stuck with a single patch.

What am I missing? At the moment the work around is to record the midi tracks one at a time using SoundForge. This is time-consuming.

I hope the next update really tackles all the midi issues I have.

Can anyone recommend a good way to use midi that enables me to render the project and have different midi tracks using different patches? Why doesn't the Audigy snyth render? I prefer some of the sounds it gives to the DLS snyth as well.

Hoping for some answers,

Chris (Hunt)

Patches are on a per MIDI Channel basis. If you have 2 ACID MIDI tracks all assigned to the same DLS synth but all of these tracks are on the same MIDI channel, then a patch change on any of the MIDI tracks will change the patch for the other.

To do mutlivoice output from a single DLS synth, you must use different MIDI channels.

You could add additional DLS synths Buses- one for each ACID MIDI track. This way each ACID MIDI track would have a seperate MIDI device to route to. Of course, this can get rather expensive in both CPU and memory resources. It is easier to use multiple MIDI channels across multiple ACID MIDI tracks.
