I have a 30 minute file with say 5 seconds before and 5 at the end that I want to delete. When I highlight the 5 seconds at the end, delete, poof, it instantly is gone. When I delete at the begining of a file, it takes way, way longer. It's with all files, delete something at the begining, takes a minute or two. Delete at the end and it insatntly is gone. Why is it like that? Can I make the front delete like the end? Tanks, Chirs. |

I'm guessing you're using Sound Forge 5 or 4.5? This is because everything in the file from your edit point to the end has to be rewritten. If you edit at the end, then there's nothing after it to be rewritten. If you edit at the beginning then the whole rest of the file must be rewritten. Version 6 gets around this problem by allowing non-destructive edits. You can edit anywhere in the file almost instantly, then a new version reflecting all of the edits is created when you save. |
