Hi, I am slowing building my system up to par and have it in really good shape now. ( Question 1 ) - I'm now trying to use more of the recording audio features with Acid and wanted to know if Acid 4.0 has a metronome feature when recording audio . . . . and if so ( Question 2 ) - is it possible to have a 4 beat count-in with this. It's a little hard to push record and have both hands on the keyboards to play a complex part right on beat one especially if you also trying to adjust to the tempo with out hearing it first. And finally ( Question 3 ) - I have version 4.0 build ( 215 ). Is there a newer version than this ? Thanks for all your help with these Questions. Larry LJ Productions larry@ljpro1.com |

The suggested response to #1 is that you build your own beat track with a simple snare hit or something like that. The suggested response to #2 is that you start your beat track a measure or two early, then delete it when you're done. For #3, please browse to /download/step1.asp?CatID=2 and check for updates there. If you click on "Acid PRO 4.0a update" you'll see that the current build is 237. |

Thanks Cheinworks for your reply . . . but I was hoping I could avoid going thru all that just to have a metronome and count-in. Then I take it they don't offer those features ? I would think a metronome and count-in would be standard features for a program which offers audio and midi recording. Especially for a program as big as Acid 4.0. What about a Quantizing feature ? - Usually another feature with 90% of recording programs. I think I read in the manual about Quantizing midi data . ( I'll have to read again ). But what about Quantizing Audio ? Thanks so much for your help with this. Larry LJ Productions larry@ljpro1.com |

But what about Quantizing Audio ? << Quantize audio dynamically? Which apps do this? I just ran through SONAR, Cubase, and Nuendo. None of them offer quantization of audio. MIDI, yes, but not audio - at least nothing I could find. If you could tell me which ones do this, I would love to have a look, unless I am misunderstanding what you mean by quantizing audio. Thanks, Peter |

Acid MIDI quantise is quite good. Constructing your own metronome is ridiculously easy. Sure, it'd be nice to have one built in but it's no show-stopper. |

uhm like i suggested elsewhere... audio quantization should be easy for acid...since it stores the beat-stretchin-markers anyway... IF you could save a marker set acid has figured out for a loop as a template (say "shuffled drum loop) you could apply the same marker set to different loops :) until then, you might get good results by messin round with these markers manually... you know, just go to track properties, n if the track type is set to "Loop" it displays the markers with the beats...but you can move them however you wanna :D |
