hey,

my singers wanna hear the Direct X effects in real time as they sing. is this possible using acid?

here's my setup:
singer sings in mic --> EX5 synth (sampler) --> line in on sound blaster live mp3 --> record as wave --> wave gets edited using sound forge (if necessary) --> place the wave in Acid 4 --> add DX effects --> press Play :)

now the singers wanna hear the DX effects real time. i'm using DSP FX package for effects...but not sure how to get the real time thing going using acid. cause i also have waves gold platinum....but again not sure of how to use it real time.

any one able to help?

thanks.
viren

ACID cannot do software FX while monitoring. (You can't do it in Sound Forge either.) You'll have to add FX post-recording. You could get around it by using a hardware unit that'll incorporate the FX right then and there.

Such units usually also have a dry track feature, allowing you to hear the FX in one output while recording dry (w/o FX) via another output.

Or if you had a soundcard like a Creamware LunaII or PulsarII then you could apply effects from the card in real time then send the signal into Acid (either dry or effected). I really suggest you chuck out that Soundblaster and get something decent - if you're halfway to serious that card's going to haunt you again and again.

uhm you have a soundblaster live card, right?

it has built-in effects that sound pretty nice !! (reverb, delay, flanger, pitch shifter...)
you can hear them in real time, since all the processing is done by the dsps on the card itself...

im not sure if you can route them so the vocals are recorded dry while theres wet output for your headphones, but might wanna check that

tip:
get a new sound card (1. Echo Mia or 2. Audiophile 2496)

and if ur using acid/soundforge reverb, they both suck in my opioion so jus get like a used (but somewhat recent) lexicon module (ALEX, MPX100) for some nice reverb fx.

maybe that helps, probably not
