Buy Vegas Video 3.0 - Receive Video Plug-Ins FREE

pgfitzgerald wrote on 12/6/2002, 12:32 AM
I received an email from Sonic Foundry tonight stating that if I buy Vegas Video 3.0 before December 20th, I would receive the Vegas Video Plug-In Pack for free.

A lot of good that does me, considering I already own Vegas Video 3.0. I've been thinking about purchasing the Plug-In Pack anyway, but I doubt you'll just send me a serial number, so how about we compromise.

Send me an email stating that because I'm such a good customer (I'm the proud owner of ACID Pro 4.0, CD Architect 5.0, SIREN Jukebox 2.0, Sound Forge 6.0, and Vegas Video 3.0), you'll sell me the Vegas Video Plug-In Pack at a reduced price. After all, I don't expect to get something for nothing.

Just a thought... :D

Better still: if you own vegas plus either 2 sonic products, you get the plug-ins for free.
What about that ?
Let me guess: you will see hairs on eggs before seing a SoFo commit to this ... you consider yourself lucky if SoFo even *replies* to your thread ...

I fear to tread in this discussion. I too thought the plug-ins should be made available for dl to those of us who are already sf customers. However, I went to the web site link for the plug-ins and, if I understand the situation correctly, it appears that the plug-ins are not from sonic foundry (making it less plausible for sf to give 'em to us). Also, there were 3 plug-ins available for free. So...perhaps this will make the situation a little less grating :)

Where? I don't seem to be able to find the freebies.
Thanks

Hey---those who know me know that I dont like corporations and I don't go around defending them, but in this case I think that Sonic is acting properly---VErsion 3.0 is about to be updated to 4.0---there is obviously an inventory they would like to get rid of--prices and deals change all the time---I am not pissed off that I paid full price for the plug-ins over a year ago-----thats the market. If giving away the plug-in package creates new Vegas users, its better for all of us in the long run. Remember, although they haven't been doing a great job of it, Sonic is in the game to make money----

Thanks. I guess I misinterpreted the post. I assumed that the free plug-ins were from SoFo. I already have the ones from Satish. Those are brilliant!
Thanks

I would like to see the option of purchasing individual SF plugins from "the pack", as there are only about 2 that I like.
OTOH, I will gladly purchase any plugin pack that Satish releases in the future!

SF is now selling individual (Acid)loops for download. Listen, pay, then DL.

i have the 3d plug ins and the ones satish graciously developed
are the pixelan ones worth buying?
i went to the vast tour think ing i would see them and then buy them---i asked spotted eagle if he wouldn't mind showing them at the end and he oblidged----i wasn't really impressed--but i was tired--it was a long day
what are your thoughts on pixelan?--or are there others?
and which ones do you really love and use?
maybe you guys can convince me to cough up some green
i too own siren--vv3---acid 4--sound forge 6 and many many loops
the only thing i don't have is a sonic foundry hat
thnx

Can you say Kazaa?
Paul_Holmes wrote on 12/6/2002, 10:07 PM
I hate to say it but Satish has just about Satishiated (satiated) my need for plugins. Not to say the third party ones aren't cool, but I know I'd rarely use them. Don't get me wrong. If I felt I could spare the money at the moment I'd buy them. They would add spice to an occasional video.

Sound like you're quite Satishfied with what you have now: )

Kaaza.......
is the most common way to invite malicious code into your computer. It's been posted all over the internet. Kaaza searches for the pirated software, finds 3-6 sites, they all start downloading, one makes it through but the others seem to stop mysteriously with only partially downloaded files. Oh well you say, at least I got one of them. Then one of two things happens, the "partially downloaded files" self execute malicious code or the "free" software has malicious code in with it.
Of course hackers aren't interested in a few dopey kids downloading music and software.....why? Simple.....they have no assets. You on the other hand have a useful identity to steal because you do.
Get the message!

Since we're heading this way...

I'll say that of all the user groups I've joined, the Vegas Video participants are some of the most ethical folks posting.

We're in an area of an open fruit-stand, where everyone has to take it upon themselves to decide what kind of person they are. Regardless of how one feels about a corporation or recording artist; a person needs to consider if *they* will steal or not.

The many discussions here and on the Vegas COW have been most enlightening on attitudes and opinions on piracy and artists' rights. Much due to the fact that we are creative personell who need to place a value on our efforts, and can extend that process to organized groups of creators, producers and marketers.

It is easy to rationalize piracy, particularly when the tools for piracy and the messages of acceptance are abundant... it may only be through lucid discussion that these issues can be explored without denegrating any participants. Piracy hurts everybody... but the discussions about it don't have to.

Game on.

Very well put Marty.

And I'll post the same quote I posted on that other thread:

"Character is defined by what we do when nobody is looking"

Way to go Marty. It’s amazing to see that creative people understand that stealing the product of someone else’s creativity is wrong. It’s too bad more people don’t think this way.

I was just reading a post on the Videomaker forums from a guy who wanted to know how to copy a DVD he rented. All the answers that were posted said that it’s illegal and no one would tell him how to do it. Yet the guy kept repeating again and again, “but, it’s perfectly legal to create a copy for my own personal use”. He kind of missed the fact that the fair use act only applies if you own the original material and does not apply to rentals. Makes you wonder.

I would love to have the Pixelan transitions because I have Pinnacle Studio products, which had the Pixelan transitions and now have Alpha Magic and I miss not having those in Vegas. But I’m not about to pay $199 when I paid $199 to upgrade from VF to Vegas. So, IMHO, they are way overpriced. Now I realize they are a drop in the bucket for a pro to buy, but I’m just a hobbyist and they are way out of my price range. It’s too bad they don’t offer a $49.99 version with reduced function without any parameter tweaks like Studio has. Maybe we should email them and ask for a lite version of their wipes?

I know we can mimic them using 3 video tracks and a gray-scale gradient mask but it would be a lot simpler just to drop a transition that did a gradient mask wipe. I’ve asked Satish to put this on his to-do list. ;-)

I kinda know how you feel JR,

I picked up a copy of studio7 (on sale a while back) just for the SmartSound...

Back to the PluginPac... Perhaps we'll see it included in V4. The early adopters (PIP purchasers) must surely take into account that sooner or later the price will drop or disappear; they can rest easy knowing they bought a good product for a fair price at the time.

SoFo has a great history of generous upgrades and extras... (BTW, has anybody else downloaded all the free loops and FX from the Sony Screenblast site?) So, all things considered, I'm very happy with SoFo.

For example: could you even put a price on the information found in this forum?

Warmest regards, MPH

If, of course, it is legal for anyone to download those things, could you please post the Screenblast link?

Oops, never mind, it is:
