Subject:Normalizing one channel of a stereo signal

I recorded a tape in sound forge xp 4.5. When I look at the sound wave I can see that the right cannel recorded a littel lower then the left. I would like to Normalize just the one channel. How/can it be done? I have not had this problem with other tapes and the tape plays equal in the cassette player. In stead of trying to figure it out, if I could just normalize the one channel would work. Thanks, Chris.

Sound Forge only processes effects in the active channel - by default both are active. Click in the right or left channel (you will see a little L or R next to the mouse pointer when you have moved the mouse high or low enough to select a single channel). The cursor will be visible in only that channel and then you can run the Normalize function. You can also use the tab key to toggle between left, right, and both channels.

Keep in mind, Normalize *may* not be the best way to appraoch this problem, since Normalizing one side will not know where the other channel's perceived volume is. I think you're better off increasing the volume of one side to get it to "match-up" with the other side, using the Meters, your eyes, and more importantly, your ears.
Just a suggestion.
