Subject:ASIO Latency

Just curious what latencies people are getting. I've been able to play at 2ms on certain VSTs without pops and crackles although the LM4 won't play samples cleanly below 11ms. This is with running XP on a PIII 733mhz with 383mb using the Audiophile 2496.

I usually have to adjust mine to about 34 ms for a really busy project when digital audio is involved. I get the same results with most VSTi's as you do. (Also using an Audiophile 2496.) I think it not only depends on how CPU-hungry the VSTi is, but also the system involved and what's used for resolution and sample rate in addition to how well-written the ASIO driver is.

I'm running 10ms with recording live instruments and then looping. No VSTi's as of yet though. It works great for my needs.

You mean with the Audiophile? You should have an icon in the Systray in the lower right (Delta Control Panel). Click on it once, then go to the Hardware Settings tab. Look in the lower left.

The misleading thing about the control panel for the Audiophile is that once you adjust your latency it says that the changes won't take effect until after you restart your audio program. This isn't true. Just hit the refresh button within the audio properties box in Acid.
